Omnisys Adds AI Mission Planning to C-UAS Platform


Omnisys has unveiled a next-generation CounterUAS mission planning platform that shifts the approach to counterdrone defense from reactive interception toward proactive, model-driven prevention. The evolution of the existing BRO™-CUAS system incorporates advanced technologies designed to help operational users understand their operational environment in depth and anticipate potential unmanned aircraft system (UAS) attack paths against small drones, FPV strike platforms and loitering munitions.

The platform leverages a physics-accurate digital twin of the battlespace to identify low-altitude approach corridors and coverage gaps created by terrain, buildings and vegetation. According to the press release, the system “computes actual detection, tracking and engagement envelopes for sensors and effectors,” enabling planners to identify vulnerabilities, close blind spots, prioritize critical sites and routes, and deploy radars, RF sensors, jammers and interceptors strategically.

Counter UAS, Supported by AI

The CounterUAS mission planning engine features AI-driven optimization that evaluates alternative deployment options and operational concepts. The system recommends courses of action to enhance coverage and interception probability while reducing mutual interference and overlapping sensor coverage. The platform operates independently to support mission-critical decisions while complementing existing command-and-control and sensor-control systems, focusing on mission logic and optimization rather than real-time device control.

A key differentiator is the system’s vendor-agnostic architecture, allowing customers to model mixed fleets of sensors and effectors from multiple suppliers alongside known or generic hostile systems. User-sensitive performance parameters are configured locally through a secure configurator, ensuring classified and proprietary information remains under sovereign user control.

Beyond operational deployment, the CounterUAS platform supports training, readiness and long-term force development by providing a realistic environment for complex counterdrone scenarios and data-driven after-action reviews. The system enables acquisition and force-development authorities to assess alternative counterdrone architectures, quantify operational tradeoffs and identify cost-effective sensor and effector combinations for different mission profiles and budgets.
